Information Technology security and data protection firms have warned Tiger Woods fans about a vicious trap hackers have set.

Fans and computer users who are keen to read about the latest developments in golf star Tiger Wood's life, including a recent car crash, may be opening the door for an awaiting computer virus.

IT security firms have revealed that hackers are taking advantage of breaking news by creating webpages which claim to contain video footage related to Woods. Avid Woods fans will be dismayed to know that these webpages were really designed to spread dangerous malware for devious purposes.

By using content related to a mysterious car accident and the top golfer's alleged affair with New York party girl Rachel Uchitel, cybercriminals have made a well-executed attack by ensuring that the webpage features high up in search engine results, increasing the chances of victims visiting the corrupt website.

Internet users who want to watch video footage related to the Tiger Woods car crash and the current happenings in his life will soon find the website installing a malicious Trojan horse onto their computer.

A malicious Trojan horse known as TrojanProxy.Wopla.q will be installed on the computers, allowing hackers to transfer spam via the victim's PC without their knowledge.

People may return from the weekend and use their PCs to find out the latest news, only to have their computers infected and their security violated.
