Antivirus 2008

Antivirus 2008 Description

ScreenshotAntivirus 2008, also known as Antivirus2008, Antivirus 2008 Pro, is a rogue anti-spyware program that uses false spyware results to lure you to purchase its full version. Antivirus 2008 is usually promoted via a ZLOB/MediaAccess Codec installer found on adult websites. You can also install it manually on the rogue website antivirus-scanner.com. Antivirus 2008 may use its system scanner to display false positives which work as an incentive to make unsuspecting users purchase Antivirus 2008′s commercial version.

The best way to get rid of the virus I think is to backup your important files on your computer ad then get wipedrive and wipe your hard drive clean and reinstall windows. That’s what I did to get rid of it…

  • Enzin.org says:

The easiest way is to rid yourself of this is to use a bootup scanner. A few come to mind but bitdefender offers one you can boot into and scan your drives. Good luck.

I was also unsmart and downloaded the anti virus 2008. I’ve downloaded the Spyhunter program, and scanned and removed all the infected files. Now I can log on to the internet, but not with my screen name. It just keeps sending me back to the log in page. This prevents me from reading at emails or checking my banking. Is this familiar to anyone else?

  • karmine says:

the program locks the registry editor, the task manager and most of the control panel from all users including admin. it runs in safe mode as well, and effectively ruins your internets connection. so these instructions are half-useless. not to mention that i believe it upgraded its status to rootkit because there are no processes to be terminated using the process.com utility.

  • Lucas says:

I HATE THIS F***ING VIRUS!!!!!!!! I want to hurt whomever created this. MY TASK MANAGER has been "disabled" IT KNOWS YOU KNOW HOW TO KILL IT!! How do I get my task manager back PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Billy says:

I got blindsided by Antivirus 2008 and 2009. I bought both and feel like a complete idiot. I finally figured out what has happened and have tried to get online to register Kaspersky and I can’t even get online to do this to remove it. I can’t get to sites that will help. I am using a laptop right now to write this. I downloaded this file and all of a sudden this big red biohazard background came up and I knew I was screwed. I cant get into C: drive and some of my features are missing on the start up window. Is manually doing this my only hope?? Expensive lesson I say. I would like to kick the fu$6in# crap out of the people who are doing this.

  • Rob Otto says:

I was able to successfully remove the AntiVirus as per directions above. My problem is that my desktop is all messed up. I have 1/4 blue onleft side with the icons and things and then 75% of the screen is white. Also when I right click on properties only General, Sharing and Customize tabs show up. It is missing the display tab and i think there is another one missing also. Any help would be appreciated.

I’ve got antivirus 2008 stuck in my computer. When I try to get to any anti virus company site to get some software to help me out Kaspersky, Symantec, McAfee etc I can’t get into them. It’s like the virus will not let me access sites that can help me clean out the 2008. Any advice? Thanks

  • Sandy says:

I repair computers for a living and right now this particular trojan and several similar to it have hit computers really hard. Several of my customers also paid for the "fix", but only made the computer much worse. One customer called the credit card company and got the phone number to the company the purchase was charged to. he called this company and finally got a lady that was very professional, and they did finally refund his money to the credit card company. One customer also purchased this program and immediately called his credit card company and cancelled the card. A few of my customers paid over $100. It is a very tedius process to remove and I have yet to find a program to remove it all. The best is to do an advanced restore with formating and restore. Many functions were disabled and there ws nothing else to do. One could not even be restored. I am not a programmer so I do not understand how they can get into a system and totally take over it. I would like to learn more about how they are able to do this. There has to be money involved in some way for people to do this and cause so many problems for people. Try to get a charge back to your card or tell them it was a fraud. I wish I knew how to stop this from happening. I feel a lot of it comes from My Space and You Tube.

  • JohnDrake says:

Don’t be fooled people, call your credit card company and have them charge back the cost of the software. Tell your credit card company it’s a scam and they should refund your payment. Good luck.

Using the add/remove then restarting does no good whatsoever, I got this thing into my machine somehow, and I just KNOW i did not download it myself, then I now have a blue screen with the yellow and white warning on it and it will not go away nomatter WHAT I do, I ran spybot, AVG, and Adaware, and nothing works If this does not fully get rid of it I’m going to get a new computer, but I want to keep my currnet files, all my p[ictures, and projects i’m working on will be lost if I don’t get this thing off my machine. • Terri says:

I too was taken by this company yesterday. It took over my computer with it’s pop-ups and when I hit the button to continue WITHOUT it scanning and downloading, it did it anyway. It basically forced me into buying the software and after scanning, told me I had 43 viruses that needed removal and did so without my authorization or permission!! I was on the phone with HP for almost two hours this morning trying to get answers about this "antivirus" program. They didn’t know anything. I was also told that I need to take my computer in and have the hard drive returned to it’s original factory settings because of this!!! Tomorrow, I’m calling my credit card company and explain to them what happened and fax them the information I printed off (stating it’s a scam) and start the process of a "Charge-Back". I will not try to contact this company because as some of you have stated, you don’t talk to any humans, of if you are lucky enough to speak with someone, you get the runaround. Since this was done yesterday, I have no idea what my credit card will be charged. It stated on the "receipt" that my card was charged $49.95, but I don’t trust this bogus company. Please call your credit card company and report the same. It may be the only way for you to get your money back. I can’t guarantee that this will work for you, but at least try!! I will do my best to make sure everyone knows about this destructive scam!!!!!

  • LeeAnne says:

All as I can tell you regarding getting ahold of them is they replied to me with …..@gmail.com. Maybe you can or someone can trace the @gmail.com. They got me too; however, I did not purchase and I’m still trying to clean it up. Plus. on my vitsta they were not in my control panel to unistall. I went right to the registery first and deleted things from there – not all but some and that seem to stop the problem – though clean up is still needed. I found the program under my program files but they would not let me delete it. I renamed the directory to be deleted and thereafter I was able to delete the program file – finally. However, there’s various files as stated above and any removal instructions that have been deposited over ones computer. Good luck. I still need it. And I had protection.

  • Margaret MacGillivray says:

Hi, thank you for your info on this terrible company. I was unfourtunate enough to get iinvolved with this in the last couple of weeks of May. Just as you say Antivurus kept popping up and telling me I had like 44 infections or somethng. Not only did I download it, I purchased it. 129.74 billed to my VISA, which I have been trying to get rebated ever since. I had to go back to my Norton Anti Virus and download that, and run a full scan and get the Antivirus cleaned off. Now I am wondering if there is ANYWAY at all to get this money rebated?? Do you have any other info about this company that would help me? I have a customer service site for complaints but of course they dont answer, and the phone number they supply is one that is never answered by anyone human. Such a lot of money for me. There should be a way to put BIG warnings on something like this or better yet block it completely from the internet.
