Gaobot Description
Worm Gaobot spreads in local networks. It installs itself to the computer, terminates antivirus and security-related applications processes and infects vulnerabe PCs or PCs with shared resources. It also steals CD keys of popular PC games and changes browser settings. The worm connects to the Internet and can be controlled remotely by attackers.

To remove Gaobot, you must first stop any Gaobot processes that are running in your computer's memory. To stop all Gaobot processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for Gaobot, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.
To delete Gaobot registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Gaobot." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete."
Finally, to completely get rid of Gaobot, you must manually remove other Gaobot files. These Gaobot files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, Gaobot might create a file like
%PROGRAM_FILES%\Gaobot\Gaobot.exe. Locate and remove these files.
