SpyShredder Removal Guide
SpyShredder Description
SpyShredder is a rogue anti-spyware program that hijacks the machine for malicious purposes. SpyShredder installs itself onto your PC without your permission, usually through a Trojan. Once SpyShredder is installed, it launches on Windows startup and bombards you with unnecessary popup ads. It is extremely difficult to remove SpyShredder manually because this program may continue to try to recreate itself. It is very similar to such parasites as
Bravesentry,
Dr.Antispy and
MagicAntiSpy.

colin,
SpyShredder may install Trojans or some viruses into your computer. And those Trojans or viruses usually change or lock desktop wallpapers so that the simple user couldn't access it. Try to download our scanner, then press 'generate support log' and post the support logs so we could have a better way to analyze your problem. It will be like posting HijackThis logs. |

Daniel, Of course SpyShredder may affect \"Tabbed Browsing\" for Internet Explorer. Scan your computer with anti-spyware programs. Or you can download our free scanner to see what infected files do you have and try to remove them manually. |

I just had to go through getting SpyShredder removed from my desktop. I used SpyBot to locate all of the files and reg settings (I deleted them manually instead of paying to register SpyBot). After this was done I still didn't have access to my Desktop. I then went to Start->Settings->Control Panel->Display. I went to the Desktop tab and selected Customize Desktop. Then selected the Web tab. There was a listing for Privacy something or other in the list of web pages and it was selected. I selected the Delete button to the right and it removed it. I instantly had access to my Desktop again. Hope this helps someone. |

When removing this crap, disconnect from the Internet. Check registry key folder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run for strange values (lots of numbers and letters) and remove the target file (you may have to kill it from task manager first). Also look in the same key folder under HKEY_CURRENT_USER. Kill all processes related to SpyShredder from the Task Manager. Go to Start->Run and type "regsvr32 /u SpyShredderX.dll" (replace X with 0, 1, 3 and then with nothing). These four files should now be unregistered. Run uninstall program from the Control Panel. Search the registry and computer for "SpyShredder" (no space between Spy and Shredder) and delete whatever you find of unwanted software. Repeat the steps until there are nothing more to find. Reboot the computer and the crap is hopefully gone. Once you have got rid of it you should update your web browser or disable scripts. Or do what I am planning to do; switch to Mac OS X. |
