System Security

System Security Description

System Security is a rogue PC security application. System Security is often downloaded and installed by a Trojan, through browser security holes, or via other unconventional and unethical mechanisms. Once installed, System Security will display notifications of imaginary security and privacy risks in its attempts to get the user to purchase the full version and may generate system slowdown and instability. This program can be extremely difficult to manually remove. System Security is a clone of Winweb Security, alarge family of rogue security programs with members such as Live Security Platinum.

Has any one found the filth that made this hack? Has this individual/group been shut down yet?

  • Randy Bardonner says:

I have a friend whose PC is infected with System Security. It would not allow any of the tools mentioned to open: e.g. Task Manager, System Restore, DOS emulator (command prompt window), the existing security software (which had been disabled-I’m not sure if it was done by the malware or by another user), msconfig, and even Spyhunter’s Malware Scanner. In fact, it prevented almost every program from opening up (including backup) that I tried, except IE. I performed a system recovery, which seemed to fix the problem, but the next morning, it came back when one of the users accessed the internet using the AOL browser. I was assured that the security software had been reinstalled and that all updates had been done before this happened. I haven’t been back to check it yet, and have no further information on the status or severity of the problem at this point. The OS is Windows XP Home. AOL is v9.0 or 9.1, I’m not sure which. The security software is the Verizon Internet Security Suite.

The version of System Security that I am running in to here is much harder to deal with than the one described on this page, because of the chokehold it has on applications. If anyone can provide me with any info or suggestions, I would be grateful.

    Thank you.

  • Erica Martin says:

I’ve been trying to get the System Security off my laptop and so far, nothing is working. It denies the Spyware, and won’t run it, calling it “infected”. I can’t find ANY files on it and it’s driving me up the WALL! What “files” do I need to really search for in order for this to work? It denies everything that I try to fix. Please, help me!

  • Linda says:

The fastest and easiest way to get rid of this mess is to use your PC’s system recovery discs and go back to a day or two before the virus hit. My infection was so bad I could not open the Task Manager, Control Panel, Internet Explorer, or any other program or file that would give me the ability to remove this thing. None of the instructions on any of the sites I found worked because of this. Good luck!

  • mario says:

It won’t let me go into task manager,
    what should I do?

  • burn says:

system security has really mucked up a lot. My desktop programs such as Ad-Aware, spybot, and malwarebytes do not work at all,nor my antivirus which is uptodate: neither does regedit. Nor Firefox. IE still works but this program is messing me up. I cannot even pretype a text document or a rich text document as it [REMOVED WORD]s up access to it after it is first created on the desktop. I cannot see your security image at all(I think I have an idea about that but that would mean I would have to dump XP and go back to Win 98 as I have an XP upgrade disc in the drive at the moment and certain filles are being refused…I was planning on reloading XP to get past this thing, but that is a no go. This is crud.
