W97M/Ethan is a Word macro virus designed to infect Word 97. W97M/Ethan consists of a single macro less than 50 lines long. W97M/Ethan infects Word's NORMAL.DOT template and documents by inserting its code to a module in the document. W97M/Ethan uses an effective way to hide its code. By using special WordBasic operators W97M/Ethan installs its module into Word classes. The virus code is appended as a native Word component. As a result W97M/Ethan is not visible in the Tools/Macro menu.

Backup Reminder: Always be sure to back up your PC before making any changes.To remove W97M/Ethan , you must first stop any W97M/Ethan processes that are running in your computer's memory. To stop all W97M/Ethan processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for W97M/Ethan , then right-click it and select "End Process" key.
To delete W97M/Ethan registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Finally, to completely get rid of W97M/Ethan , you must manually remove other W97M/Ethan files. These W97M/Ethan files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, W97M/Ethan might create a file like
