Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Anti-obscene is an adware program that may inject new advertising into your Web pages or launch Web page-based advertisements, such as pop-up windows. There are multiple versions of Anti-obscene for separate browsers, not all of which may be viewable from within your browser's settings manager. As a result, PC users needing to delete Anti-obscene should consider using applications with anti-adware-scanning features while all browsers are left closed.
The Extension Protecting Your Browser from Advertisement-Free Outcomes
Anti-obscene is an extension that markets itself as being a means of blocking obscene Web content automatically. Both most reviewers and malware researchers agree that Anti-obscene may not provide any of the limited benefits Anti-obscene claims to possess, and, instead, may use its control over your browser to load extra advertisements. These advertisements may come alongside other changes that may lower your PC's overall security, such as creating firewall exceptions for Mail.ru-affiliated products.
Besides these other features, Anti-obscene may inject advertising content into your Web browser's pages while they load. Examples of advertisements from Anti-obscene may include graphical banners, 'sponsored' search results or advertisements injected into embedded video players. However, in spite of its possible disadvantages and questionable marketing practices, Anti-obscene has shown no behavior for justifying its classification as a threatening program. As a result, Anti-obscene currently is noted as a Potentially Unwanted Program or PUP.
Although past Mail.ru-promoting products have focused on Chrome, Anti-obscene has shown separate variants of itself for other browsers, as well. Versions of Anti-obscene extensions are in circulation for Opera, Chrome, and Firefox. Each of these must be managed and uninstalled independently, along with any other settings changes not directly linked to your browsers (such as the firewall exceptions).
Getting an Obscenity of Advertisements Off Your Browsers
Since Anti-obscene is a non-threatening program marketing itself through legitimate channels, such as the Chrome Web store, casual PC users may assume that Anti-obscene has no drawbacks, only to discover otherwise after installing it. Besides the usual security problems of loading advertisements automatically, Anti-obscene also may cause performance issues, such as slowdowns, on any content-heavy websites. While Anti-obscene doesn't hide the presence of its extension, malware experts did confirm that Anti-obscene prevents its uninstallation through all normal browser options.
Along with the difficulty of removing it, Anti-obscene also may install itself without invitation: recent incidents in early 2016 confirmed Anti-obscene extensions bundling themselves with separate applications through torrents, and similar resources.
Although Anti-obscene targets Russian audiences, its features and drawbacks are just as applicable to Web surfers in any country. Removing Anti-obscene should be done by scanning your PC with good anti-adware programs capable of identifying advertising software with multiple components in diverse locations. Once done, malware experts also would suggest looking at your network and Web-browsing settings for possible signs of changes made by Anti-obscene or other PUPs.
