High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.

Phishing Protector is adware that may have unpleasant consequences for your Web clients. This tool may create additional pop-ups, banners and interstitial ads. You may notice them in all available browsers, including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Moreover, the commercial materials may not appear only when you view shopping sites. Instead, they may be attached towards various domains, even pages that are normally commercial-free. Seeing unwanted ads consistently while you are online may be annoying by itself, and they also may cause additional problems. It will not be too strange if the presence of the adware is followed by a drop in the performance of the browsers. The web clients may start working at slower speed and the loading of the sites may take more time. In some cases, the ads may even cause sporadic freezes and crashes. These potential problems are not intentional. The multimedia windows simply require quite a lot of the browser resources. Phishing Protector may display coupons and discounts that attract your interest because the ads may not be random. They may be relevant to the sites you have visited recently, as well as the searches you have undertaken. However, you should always proceed with caution if you want to explore some of the ads because, in some cases, they may redirect you to potentially unsafe sites. When you see the name of Phishing Protector, you may expect it to shield you from harmful pages. In reality, though, this adware is not a legitimate security software, so it cannot offer you reliable protection. Since it lacks positive feedback, the people behind Phishing Protector may spread it across the cyberspace in software bundles. To remove this dubious program from your PC, you should use a real and efficient anti-malware solution.
