Home Malware Programs Browser Hijackers Trovi.com

Trovi.com

Posted: January 6, 2014

Trovi.com is a Conduit-affiliated 'search engine' that redirects any would-be searches to Bing. Although this site has had very little content of any interest, Trovi.com only was brought to malware experts' attention fairly recently, when Trovi.com became part of a string of browser-hijacking incidents. Even if Trovi.com, alone, isn't much of a threat to your computer, these Trovi.com redirects from your default search engine, homepage or any other Web page should be considered damaging to your browser's performance and safety. If you value your browser and, for that matter, the rest of your PC, suitable anti-malware programs always should be your first-considered solutions for deleting a Trovi.com hijacker.

Finding Your Browser Trovi.com without Meaning to Be There

Possibly named after a form of the Italian verb for 'to find,' Trovi.com is formatted to hold the looks, but not the real features, of a search engine website. While seeming to offer links of its own, Trovi.com may redirect any attempted searches to other websites, with Bing.com being its current selection. Trovi.com isn't unsafe to visit and hasn't earned any identification as a threatening domain, but malware researchers have found content related to Conduit.com at Trovi.com. Conduit.com is well-known on its own for business practicing focusing on the promotion and distribution of unwanted browser add-ons that hijack your Web browser.

The latter detail is rather convenient since Trovi.com ties in with the recent browser-hijacking campaigns that malware experts have seen for Trovi.com. These hijacks may originate from Conduit toolbars like the IMBooster4web-en Toolbar or the SuperFast PC Toolbar, which change your search engine and homepage settings. Brands of Conduit toolbars reemerge on a weekly basis, with the current count well into the dozens. However, malware experts have yet to find Conduit products, including those that may promote Trovi.com, utilizing any illegal functions against affected PCs. Therefore, Trovi.com hijackers are considered Potentially Unwanted Programs, rather than a threat, until further notice.

Retrieving Your Browser from Trovi.com Search Hijackers

Search hijacks that force you to use 'safe' sites like Trovi.com or Conduit.com aren't as threatening as redirects to outright unreliable sites. In spite of that, these search hijackers don't have your best interests at heart and may be considered likely causes of browser crashes, poor loading times and minor security issues. Deleting any program that interferes with how you choose the settings of your own browser is encouraged by malware researchers, who have never seen any software affiliated with Conduit that's worth keeping.

Most PC users initially may attempt to remove a Trovi.com hijacker themselves, only to find that their browsers still are being redirected to Trovi.com, even if all other evidence of the browser hijacker has long since been deleted. Appropriately secure methods of deleting a Trovi.com hijacker, such as using dedicated anti-malware tools, should be able to skirt this problem easily. They also may detect executable files that could install a Trovi.com hijacker, which may be described as some form of enhancement or upgrade to your browser's search capabilities.
