Urlfilter.vmn.net

Urlfilter.vmn.net is a sub-domain of Vmn.net, a site that borrows the content and features of Yahoo.net while adding on undesirable elements (such as a questionable privacy policy). Urlfilter.vmn.net and other Vmn.net sub-domains are considered particularly dangerous – since Urlfilter.vmn.net is a disease vector that hosts browser exploits, malware and phishing attacks. Despite its pretensions as a safe anti-phishing utility, Urlfilter.vmn.net should be considered hostile to your PC, and you should scan your computer with anti-malware software immediately after any contact with Urlfilter.vmn.net (or other sites associated with Vmn.net).

Urlfilter.vmn.net: Claiming Protection as an Excuse for an Offensive Against Your Computer

The base Vmn.net site looks like a potentially useful homepage for news articles and online searches, but Vmn.net uses a suspicious privacy policy that appears to be oriented towards phishing e-mail addresses. Besides that, Vmn.net also displays additional advertisements and may monitor your personal information for monetization purposes.

Urlfilter.vmn.net, as a sub-domain of Vmn.net, inherits Vmn.net's bad reputation, but Urlfilter.vmn.net also adds its own problems on top of that. SpywareRemove.com malware researchers noted Urlfilter.vmn.net's flagrant abuse of web content in the following ways:

  • Urlfilter.vmn.net hosts malicious web page scripts that can be used to initiate attacks automatically against vulnerable browsers. Anti-malware programs and related defensive utilities may detect these scripts by the name HTML/Framer or similar IDs.
  • Urlfilter.vmn.net also hosts phishing attacks that appear to target PayPal account information.
  • Lastly, may have full-blown Trojans hosted at Urlfilter.vmn.net, which most likely are launched by the aforementioned HTML/Framer scripts. These Trojans are classified as Trojan dropper sub-types – meaning that they will attempt to install other malware onto your PC (and may delete themselves afterward, as a way of avoiding detection).

What to Do When Your Browser Filter Seems to Filter out Everything Except Urlfilter.vmn.net

Urlfilter.vmn.net also is closely associated with browser hijackers that modify your browser's settings and use various methods to redirect your browser to Urlfilter.vmn.net (or other Vmn.net-related sites). SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have found that changed homepages are particularly common in such scenarios. However, these visible symptoms of infection may not be the only attacks that are launched against your PC.

Given the level of danger that SpywareRemove.com malware researchers regrettably associate with Urlfilter.vmn.net and the base Vmn.net site, it's encouraged for you to use anti-malware scanners to combat Urlfilter.vmn.net redirects and any other form of contact with the VMN domain. If you react to protect your PC promptly, your chances of losing sensitive information or suffering long-lasting system damage should be minor to nonexistent. However, if you allow threats to remain on your computer uncontested, potential theft of highly sensitive information and other computer problems are very likely to occur – either with or without symptoms.
