Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Vid Adblock is an extension for your browser that blocks in-video advertisements from YouTube, but also injects its independent advertisements into arbitrary Web pages. This tradeoff may result in your browser having poor performance or being subjected to potentially unsafe advertisements, and most PC users should consider removing Vid Adblock from their browsers. However, any Potentially Unwanted Program, like Vid Adblock, may be weighed for its benefits and drawbacks on an individual basis.
The Irony of a Would-Be Advertisement Blocker
Vid Adblock (unrelated to Adblock, a similar add-on without Vid Adblock's adware functions) is an add-on for most modern browsers. These browsers include IE, Firefox and Chrome, although malware experts haven't seen any compatibility for non-Windows Web browsers. You may install Vid Adblock through its website, but adware may be bundled with other freeware. Vid Adblock promotes itself as an anti-advertising add-on that blocks advertisements from popular streaming movie sites, similar to the features of the original Adblock.
Along with providing its promoted advertisement-blocking functions, Vid Adblock also may inject advertisements into other sites arbitrarily, such as by inserting banners or coupons. Since the sites modified by Vid Adblock's injections don't take these advertisements in mind in their designs, you may experience accessibility problems, including issues with navigating a menu or browsing the available content. Loading times also may be increased, as a direct result of Vid Adblock's inclusion of extra advertisements.
As yet, security researchers have been unsuccessful to find any instances of Vid Adblock abusing its advertisements in ways that could qualify Vid Adblock as threatening software. Regardless, advertisements delivered through adware extensions may be responsible for distributing a variety of misleading tactics and even script-based attacks to random PCs. The most significant threats seen in such circumstances include attacks that may install threats automatically, or by disguising their downloads as software updates.
Your Browser's Most Reliable Advertisement-Blocking Solution
Vid Adblock may provide all of the benefits that Vid Adblock claims to have, but these same functions also can be found in other add-ons that haven't earned classifications of being adware. PUPs like Vid Adblock should be judged according to their own merits and, if desired, kept on your PC. However, most adware programs offer uneven trades for any browser, such as Vid Adblock's removal of advertisements from YouTube in exchange for providing new advertisements on most other sites. Hence, deleting Vid Adblock should be the first resort of most PC users.
Although most advertisement blockers can't block Vid Adblock's external advertisements, good anti-adware and anti-malware products should be able to remove Vid Adblock and all related Web-browsing modifications. Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome are the only browsers affected in recent Vid Adblock installation reports, and Windows users should consider monitoring all the usual infection vectors for potential adware. Free software websites with reputations for bundling other applications with their downloads, as well as torrent networks are two of the most common adware distributors on the Web. However, in rare cases, malware researchers also see Trojan downloaders and other threats involved in adware distribution.
