Recently a critical vulnerability was discovered in Adobe Flash Player versions 9.0.159.0 and 10.0.22.87.

A new vulnerability within Adobe Flash, was found to be a zero-day vulnerability that has yet to be patched. This same vulnerability appears to extend to Adobe Reader and Adobe Acrobat version 9.1.2, as well as earlier version 9 variants.

It has been discussed on various software security websites that the vulnerability may cause these applications to crash, degrade computer system performance and, more importantly, allow an unauthorized user to access your PC and even take control of it remotely.

As of yet, Adobe has not released any patches for this vulnerability, though they have announced that updates should be expected by the end of July. Whether this will be in time to temper the fears of Adobe users remains uncertain, but more information has been made available in Adobe’s security bulletin.

As well as explaining the issue, the security bulletin also highlights methods that may help to a small degree in managing the problem Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Reader and Adobe Flash Player are now facing. Hopefully this will continue to keep you safe until the patches arrive at the end of the month.
