FakeSurf Description

The RAT was created in February 2005. This application was designed for illegal controlling of other people's PCs. The hacker infects the victim's machine via the e-mail or File and Print Sharing with a "server" application. He can later access the infected machine via a "client". The functions of a RAT may vary, depending on the needs of the hacker. Some may just do nasty things, while the user is working. Other can steal vital information and remove files. The RAT was created in February 2005.

To remove FakeSurf, you must first stop any FakeSurf processes that are running in your computer's memory. To stop all FakeSurf processes, press CTRL+ALT+DELETE to open the Windows Task Manager. Click on the "Processes" tab, search for FakeSurf, then right-click it and select "End Process" key.

To delete FakeSurf registry keys, open the Windows Registry Editor by clicking on the Windows "Start" button and selecting "Run." Type "regedit" into the box and click "OK." Once the Registry Editor is open, search for the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FakeSurf." Right-click this registry key and select "Delete."

Finally, to completely get rid of FakeSurf, you must manually remove other FakeSurf files. These FakeSurf files can be in the form of EXE, DLL, LSP, TOOLBAR, BROWSER HIJACK, and/or BROWSER PLUGIN. For example, FakeSurf might create a file like
%PROGRAM_FILES%\FakeSurf\FakeSurf.exe. Locate and remove these files.
