'AKHIL Healthcare' Email Virus

Posted: June 9, 2020

A new spam campaign is being used to deliver a variant of the LokIBot infostealer Trojan to victims that are likely to reside in India. The email is titled 'AKHIL Healthcare,' and it claims to contain information about a pending bank payment and requests the user to respond with a 'copy of product certificate.' The email is entirely fake, and it prompts the victim to download a '.RAR' file whose contents include the threatening LokiBot implant.

Needless to say, Akhil Healthcare is in no way related to these email messages – the attackers are simply using the organization's popularity to gain the trust of their targets. It would seem that the 'AKHIL Healthcare' Email Virus campaign is not targeted at specific individuals and, instead, the attackers are trying to expand their reach as much as possible by sending massive amounts of spam emails.

Having your system infected by LokiBot is very threatening because this implant is able to reside silently, and exfiltrate sensitive information from your computer – credit cards, browser logins, cookies, cryptocurrency wallets, and login credentials are just some of the types of data that LokiBot goes after

If you receive a message from 'AKHIL Healthcare' that asks you to download a file attachment, then it is almost certain that you have become one of the 'AKHIL Healthcare' email virus's targets. It is recommended to report this message as harmful, and then delete it from your inbox. Since it is impossible to remember all email tactics and spam campaigns, it is advisable to protect your system with an up-to-date anti-virus software suite – this way, you will be safe and sound even if you make a mistake to download a threatening email attachment.
