GoIncognitoSearch

Posted: December 1, 2020

GoIncognitoSearch is a misleading browser add-on that promises to enhance users' privacy who want to protect their data while browsing the Internet or using search engines. Allegedly, this is supposed to reduce the number of targeted ads users see and also prevent online marketing agencies from collecting information about their browsing habits. However, the changes that GoIncognitoSearch brings are entirely different – the page sets your Web browser's new tab page and search engine to Goincognitosearch.com. While this is not a malicious change, it does not do much to solve the problems that GoIncognitoSearch promised to fix. Furthermore, having your searches redirected to a 3rd-party page like Feed.goicnognitosearch.com and Portal.goincognitosearch.com may end up exposing you to even more ads than before.

GoIncognitoSearch is considered to be a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP,) and users are advised to complete its removal with the assistance of a suitable PC security tool. To avoid future encounters with a software of this sort, you should make sure that your computer is protected by an up-to-date security application at all times. Furthermore, you should carefully review the changes that apps and add-ons bring to your PC – any software that asks to replace your Web browser's new tab page or search engine should be avoided.
