Fake video players are one of the favorite weapons that online con artists use to convince their targets to perform specific actions. Years ago, such tricks were used to propagate bogus Adobe Flash Player updates that often delivered adware or even harmful software to the victim's computer. Nowadays, these fraudsters are using this trick for something far less threatening. The page at News-back.net hosts a fake video player that asks users to 'Press allow to watch the video.' This request may seem innocent, but we assure you that nothing good will come out of it. If you click 'Allow' you will subscribe to News-back.net's push notifications unknowingly, therefore enabling the website to deliver regular notifications to your browser.

The content that News-back.net delivers is not entertaining certainly, and, in fact, it may often expose you to fraudulent websites, services and products. When browsing the Internet, a rule of thumb is to avoid interacting with content that has an unknown origin, and the News-back.net notifications are not an exception.

If you see these notifications regularly, then you should know that getting rid of them requires limiting News-back.net's permissions. You can do this through your Web browser's 'Site Settings' menu.
