Quiclean
Quiclean is a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP), which works like a Web browser extension that seems only to be compatible with Google Chrome. Users of other Web browsers are unlikely to be affected by the issues that Quiclean might cause, but Chrome users might want to take the necessary measures to keep away Quiclean from their machines. The official website and Chrome Store page of Quiclean reveal that this application is meant to help users maintain the performance of Google Chrome by getting rid of old cookies, cached files, and other data that might not be necessary. While the website of Quiclean claims that accomplishing these tasks boosts the browser's performance and stability, it is questionable how efficient this is.
The surprising thing is that Quiclean's installer asks the user to permit it to modify the data on the websites they visit. While many extensions do require this, it is questionable why Quiclean does it since it is not meant to change anything related to websites. It is possible that Quiclean may sometimes display ads that the user did not want to see.
We advise our readers to keep their computers clean of dubious software, especially if it has zero reputation as is the case with Quiclean. Also, keep in mind that the features that Quiclean offers are included by default in Google Chrome, and you don't need to use 3rd-party software to clean cookies, cached files, download logs and other data. The removal of Quiclean can be taken care of either via the Chrome's extension manager or by using a reliable security tool.
