Satellite and Earth Maps

Posted: August 19, 2020

The Satellite and Earth Maps is a Google Chrome add-on that has already been removed from the official Chrome Store due to the dubious changes it brought to the Web browsers of its users. However, this is not the only reason not to use the Satellite and Earth Maps – the add-on also is categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by multiple reputable security products.

The Satellite and Earth Maps may be promoted via online advertisements and pop-ups, which promise to provide users with quick access to mapping and directions services that can be accessed through their Web browser. However, what the Satellite and Earth Maps really does is to set your new tab page to Search.hsatelliteandearthmaps.com. Although this change is not a security concern, it is intrusive and may have an adverse impact on your browsing experience.

If the changes that the Satellite and Earth Maps causes are affecting you, then you should use an updated PC security application to eliminate this PUP. Once the Satellite and Earth Maps add-on is gone, any changes it has made should be reverted automatically.
