High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.

Search.searchmpct.com is a search engine that may be promoted by a Web browser extension known as 'ConvertThatPDF.' This browser extension provides users with the ability to convert documents from one format to another swiftly by simply uploading them to the online service. However, installing this extension also may bring other, potentially unwanted modifications, such as changing the Web browser's default new tab page to Search.searchmpct.com. This website is not harmful, and it provides its visitors with access to a Yahoo-powered search field, a weather widget, and quick buttons to convert PDF & DOC files to various formats. However, despite the page's reliability and functionality, it is likely that most users would prefer to continue using their favorite new tab page, instead of using the one promoted by a piece of software they recently installed.
In addition to modifying the Web browser settings, the 'ConvertThatPDF' extension also is recognized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) by reputable names in the cyber security field. Since it is nothing more than a PUP, the 'ConvertThatPDF' extension's removal is recommended, but not mandatory since its presence will not lead to any negative consequences. Removing Search.searchmpct.com from your browser's settings is a task that can be achieved by either manual or automated removal of the 'ConvertThatPDF' PUP.
