Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

The Search Tab New is a Web browser extension that claims to provide users with an improved, more accurate and more intuitive way to search the Web. Unlike many other extensions of this sort, the Search Tab New is only compatible with Google Chrome, and users who rely on other Web browsers don't have to worry about seeing this extension on their computers. When the Search Tab New is installed, it asks for the users' permission to modify their default new tab page to 'Srchweb.com.' This page appears to be empty, but installing the Search Tab New extension does, indeed, change the default new tab to a custom search engine that is associated with the browser extension. Anti-virus vendors classify the Search Tab New as a browser hijacker and recommend its removal.
The website that the Search Tab New is meant to promote does offer some interesting features such as:
- A customizable background that may be changed with one from the website's built-in gallery or any picture that the user chooses.
- A collection of quick links to popular websites like Yahoo, Amazon, Facebook, eBay, Gmail, etc.
- The ability to switch between different popular search engines quickly – Yahoo, Bing and Google.
While this website may be useful to some users, researchers don't support the usage of low-quality search pages that are promoted by dubious browser extensions. While the Search Tab New's website may seem legitimate at the moment, there's no guarantee that it will not be cluttered with ads in the future, or it will not start to deliver tampered search results. If you have the Search Tab New extension on your computer and it has modified your default new tab page, then it is recommended to eliminate the intrusive browser add-on, as well as to restore the previous value of your default new tab page.
