TrojanDownloader: O97M/Skebpac.A is a stealthy macro threat that may represent a severe security risk. Its main purpose is to infect you with additional parasites that may accomplish different, harmful operations. Typically, the infections with TrojanDownloader: O97M/Skebpac.A may occur when the victim opens corrupted Word or Excel documents attached to spam emails. Although some email providers assure that they can check the received files for the presence of harmful codes, it is never a good idea to open anything from unknown senders. This Trojan also may enter together with another application that may seem legit. If you install software from verified places like their official pages and not from questionable platforms such as torrent trackers, you should be safe. You will not understand that you are infected with TrojanDownloader: O97M/Skebpac.A as soon as it sneaks in. Initially, this parasite shows no signs of its presence. One of its first tasks is to modify the Windows Registries and change some security-related settings. The threat creates a few registry keys that keep it running at all times. At the same time, the cyber threat may turn off your Firewall or block conventional security applications that have not added its detections in their databases. After it finishes the preparatory phase, TrojanDownloader: O97M/Skebpac.A attempts to connect the compromised PC to remote hosts. With their help, the hackers may send instructions to their harmful tool. The Trojan may download and install threatening software without any approval from the victim. Some of the threats that may reach you are exceptionally dangerous – for example, the Crowti Ransomware. It may lock all of your files and ask you to pay a ransom. TrojanDownloader: O97M/Skebpac.A also may upload information from your PC to Command and Control (C&C) servers. This way, the hackers may receive your personal files or reveal your account passwords. Upon the slightest suspicion that your system may be infected, you should perform a scan with a leading security product.
