Trojan.Cryptolocker.X is a new member of the Cryptolocker family, a family of ransomware Trojans that never stop growing. As its family members, the Trojan.Cryptolocker.X may encrypt crucial files and demand the payment of a ransom to release a decryption key. Computer users infected by Trojan.Cryptolocker.X will notice that their files will have unknown extensions, and numerous folders will be altered. Trojan.Cryptolocker.X may invade a computer through redirections to corrupted websites, spam emails and other threat delivery methods. Once inside the machine, Trojan.Cryptolocker.X will create an executable file, winconfo.exe, and exhibit a pop-up warning with the following message:

"ERROR 7×000000 There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.”
Using a mutex called “888roddddsjk_Alreee3ady_888nt."

Trojan.Cryptolocker.X will obscure itself. Then, Trojan.Cryptolocker.X will encrypt the targeted files and create a file called 'pronk.txt' containing the ransom message. Security experts advise computer users do not pay the ransom unless there isn't other option since the payment will not be a guarantee that they will get the decryption key.
