Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT is a Trojan horse that attaches itself to the Services Control Manager – a Windows component that manages the termination and launching of programs. This methodology is reminiscent of similar PC threats like Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYU and Trojan horse Patched_c.LZE, and like them, Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT may trigger persistent warning messages from anti-malware and security software. Any Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT infection should be seen as a high-level threat to your machine, but even competent anti-malware programs may be unable to delete Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT until you've used one of various options to disable Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT and related PC threats.

Could Your Operating System Be Next on Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT's Hit List?

Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT has been observed in the wild even as of this month, and Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT infections should be considered a potential hazard for any PC that has contact with potentially malicious web content. Although prominent Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT attacks have taken place within the Windows Vista environment, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers see no reason not to assume that Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT has equal compatibility with most other versions of Windows. Infection vectors for Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT have yet to be firmly determined, although similar PC threats have been seen using fake Flash updates and pop-ups to attack new computers.

Although the system file that Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT typically infects is services.exe, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers note that Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT may conceal its running memory process as svchost.exe (another valid component of Windows, and, thus, difficult to detect by eye as being malicious). You should never try to delete Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT by deleting the associated files, since this will damage Windows, although you may attempt to replace a compromised file with a 'clean' one from an OS cd or other safe source.

Spotting Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT Attacks – and Bringing Them to an Ignoble End

If your anti-malware software is active, you may see Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT warning messages on a regular basis, since Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT will be kept running as a matter of course. However, anti-malware scanners may experience difficulties in deleting Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT unless you run a scan in a mode where all PC threats are disabled (for example, by booting your computer from a USB thumb drive). SpywareRemove.com malware experts strongly recommend that you scan your entire PC during this operation, since Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT is unlikely to be installed without the presence of other PC threats to support Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT.

Other symptoms of Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT infections may or may not be in evidence. Similar PC threats have been known to be associated with spontaneous pop-ups, blocked security software and disabled Windows security features. Regardless, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers rate Trojan Horse Patched_c.LYT as a high-level PC threat that should be removed on sight.
