Win32/Alureon.FO is a data-stealing Trojan with rootkit capabilities that hides itself in the kernel and is difficult to detect and remove by many security software. Win32/Alureon.FO allows attackers to intercept incoming and outgoing Internet traffic in order to gather personal information such as user names, passwords, credit card data, and other details. Win32/Alureon.FO may also enable attackers to transfer malicious data to the affected computer system. Win32/Alureon.FO may change DNS settings on the host computer to enable the attacker to execute malicious actions. Therefore, it may be necessary to change DNS settings after Win32/Alureon.FO is uninstalled from the corrupted PC.
