How to Stop iPhoto from Opening Automatically
iPhoto is one of the default macOS applications, which helps you organize your pictures, as well as to sync the media content of your iPhone/iPad and Mac. While it is very useful, some users are annoyed by the fact that iPhoto tends to open automatically whenever you connect your mobile device – even if you just want to charge it. While this is not a major annoyance, you can easily stop it from happening by following the guide below:
Disable iPhoto's Autorun Option
Connect your device to the computer/laptop and wait for iPhoto to show up. After this, select your device on the left, and then look for the 'Open Photos' checkbox at the top. Make sure the box is unchecked, and then close the iPhotos app to confirm the change.
Disable iPhotos Autorun via Terminal
The Terminal is one of the easiest ways to make changes to your Mac's configuration, as long as you know what command to enter. Disabling the iPhotos autorun feature through the Terminal is incredibly easy – just enter this command:
defaults -currentHost write com.apple.ImageCapture disableHotPlug -bool YES
