How to Uninstall AdGuard

It has proven to be a very efficient product when it comes to delivering an ad-free browsing experience to its users. However, it is worth mentioning that there are many other ad-blocking tools to choose from. If you are dissatisfied with AdGuard and wish to explore other options, then you should start by uninstalling AdGuard first. Below, you will find instructions on how to remove the AdGuard standalone application properly or browser add-on on different platforms:

Uninstalling AdGuard on Windows

If you are using the standalone version of AdGuard for Windows, then you will need to handle its removal by going to the Start Menu and selecting applications -> applications and Features. This section shows a list of installed software – find and select AdGuard, and then click the Uninstall button to start.

Uninstalling AdGuard on macOS

macOS need to first quit AdGuard by clicking on its icon and the status bar, and selecting 'Quit.' After this, open Finder -> Applications, and then drag AdGuard to the trash bin. You should also check for leftover files in the following folders:

  • ~/Library/Application Scripts
  • ~/Library/Containers
  • ~/Library/Group Containers

Uninstalling AdGuard from Web Browsers

For Google Chrome:

  1. Open Google Chrome
  2. Type chrome://extensions/ in the URL bar and press Enter
  3. Find the AdGuard AdBlocker for Chrome entry, and click Remove.

For Mozilla Firefox

  1. Open Mozilla Firefox and click the three horizontal lines icon to open the menu.
  2. Select Add-ons -> Extensions
  3. Find 'AdGuard AdBlocker,' click the icon with the three dots and press 'Remove.'

For Safari

If you are using Safari on macOS, follow the instructions on how to uninstall AdGuard on macOS. If you are a Windows user of Safari, then do the following:

  1. Open Safari
  2. Head to the Menu Bar -> Preferences -> Extensions
  3. Find AdGuard and press 'Uninstall.'
