How to Uninstall iTunes
iTunes is an essential piece of software to have if you own Apple devices. However, some users might be dissatisfied with iTunes' performance in recent years. In addition to becoming more and more bloated, the application may become obsolete if you decide to ditch your iPhone or iPad and switch to an Android device. If you are looking to remove iTunes from your Windows or macOS computer, then you should follow these steps:
Uninstalling iTunes on Windows
Windows users can trigger the uninstallation wizard by going to the Control Panel and then selecting the 'Programs & Features' menu. From there, find the 'iTunes' entry and then select 'Uninstall.' Follow the on-screen directions to finish the task. Removing iTunes this way will leave your music library intact, so there is no need to worry about this.
Uninstalling iTunes on macOS
iTunes comes preinstalled on macOS laptops and computers, and this is why its removal might be a bit trickier. The first method is to open Finder -> Applications, and then right-click the 'iTunes.application' shortcut. Select 'Get Info' and click on the small lock icon at the bottom. Choose the 'Sharing and Permissions' option, and make sure that 'Read & Write' is ticked. Close the window, and then drag 'iTunes.application' in the trash bin.
Alternatively, you can do it through the macOS Terminal. Open a Terminal instance in the Applications folder, and then type in the command 'sudo rn –rf iTunes.application.'
