How to Uninstall VirtualBox
VirtualBox is a convenient software that allows you to run a virtualized environment, which simulates various operating systems such as Windows or Linux. The VirtualBox software is available for multiple operating systems, including two of the most popular ones – macOS and Windows. If you are having trouble removing VirtualBox entirely, then you should check out these helpful removal instructions:
Uninstalling VirtualBox on Windows
Open the Control Panel and go to 'Programs and Features.' There, you will see a list of all software installed on your computer. Find the 'VM VirtualBox' entry and choose the 'Uninstall' option. The uninstallation wizard will ask you to accept several changes, some of which are related to system drivers – click 'Yes' on all prompts. These drivers are not essential, and they were installed alongside VM VirtualBox. It is recommended to restart your computer after the uninstallation is complete.
Uninstalling VirtualBox on macOS
macOS users who face difficulties trying to remove VirtualBox may need to load the VirtualBox disk image that they first used to install the application. When they open it via Finder, they will see the application called 'VirtualBox_Uninstall.tool.' This application should be launched to initialize the VirtualBox removal process. You will be coached to enter your administrator password to complete the task.
An easier alternative is to open the Finder -> Applications menu and then drag VirtualBox to the Trash Bin.
