Download Up-To-Date Drivers from the Maker's Website

Identify the make and model of your scanner, and then head to the official website of the manufacturer to find compatible drivers. Download, install them and reboot the computer. Updated drivers are likely to solve a wide range of rarely occurring bugs such as the black scan problem.

Remove the Device from Windows Temporarily

Every new device you connect to Windows will be installed, and run with a basic driver package. However, sometimes these devices are not registered correctly, and Windows may have a hard time running them smoothly.
