'855-442-0666' Pop-Ups

Posted: April 25, 2017

The '855-442-0666' pop-ups are corrupted messages that are only hosted on one domain that appears to be used for all sorts of online hoaxes currently. The domain hosts separate pages for the Norton Antivirus Scam, the AVG Antivirus Scam, the AOL Mail scam, the HotMail scam, and the HP Printer scam. The common thing between all of them is that users who come across them will end up being offered to contact certified support agents by dialing 855-442-0666, a phone number that, according to the pop-ups, is toll-free.

The domain used to host the '855-442-0666' pop-ups, and the hoaxes that they promote is named hxxp://efflortechlive.online and it appears to host the website of a company, which claims to be a reputable provider of technical support services. However, judging by the number of fraudulent Web browser messages hosted on their Web browser is it probably not a good idea to trust the advice that these people have to give.

The hoaxes they run may include more than just simple error messages and alerts. Often, the pop-up may be accompanied by a page, which displays a fake Blue Screen of Death, and also may use special scripts to stop users from closing the tab or a pop-up message. This way, some of the '855-442-0666' pop-ups may force users to restart their Web browser completely to get rid of the annoying messages. It goes without saying that calling the number seen in the '855-442-0666' pop-ups is not a good idea at all! The technical support team there is not a credible one, and it is very likely that the fake pages they use to promote their services are only meant to increase the amount of money they get from naive users who agree to pay for their services.
