Receiving a call from the number 863-440-7836 can turn out to be a very disappointing experience if you are not accustomed with the social engineering tricks that the people behind this call tend to use especially. The online reports published by users who were contacted by the 863-440-7836 con artists state that these people are likely to be attempting to collect financial details from their targets.

Microsoft Technician Impersonators may Ask You for Financial Details

The con artists appear to switch out their script, but most of the reports state that the fraudsters claimed to be from the software giant Microsoft. Users were told that they are entitled to a refund and they must provide some information to complete the process – while the questions of the con artists might be trivial at first, they try to finalize the deal by asking the potential victim to confirm their payment details by either:

  • Providing the credit card number, expiration date, and CCV to verify the client's identity.
  • Filling out an online form that asks for full credit card details.
  • Making a small payment in the form of Amazon Gift Cards or iTunes Gift Cards.

It is not clear if the phone number 863-440-7836 is linked to any legitimate company – keep in mind that con artists are able to spoof their caller IDs so that they can impersonate legitimate businesses easily.
