Ahorrememoria

Posted: January 28, 2008

Ahorrememoria is an updated clone of AVSystemCare, a fake anti-spyware program that uses various types of inaccurate warning messages to encourage you to spend money on its spyware-fighting features – which are not, of course, actually in existence. Although Ahorrememoria has been targeted at Spanish speakers, most types of Windows computers can still be attacked by Ahorrememoria regardless of the operating system's default language set. Even though Ahorrememoria's site, Ahorrememoria.com, isn't currently active, SpywareRemove.com malware experts caution that Ahorrememoria may still be installed by typical infection vectors like Trojans or drive-by-download exploits. If you see Ahorrememoria on your PC, the best thing that you can do is ignore its inaccurate alerts and remove Ahorrememoria with a legitimate anti-malware product.

Ahorrememoria – a Classy Name for a Clone without Class

Although Ahorrememoria does its best to pretend that Ahorrememoria is an independent, legitimate and effective anti-spyware program, Ahorrememoria is, in reality, a copy of AVSystemCare, which was first noted by most PC security companies in 2008. Aliases and other clones in the same family include WinFixer, Win32/Adware.AntiSpywareMaster and several variants of AntiSpywareExpert. Despite their different names, all rogue anti-spyware programs in this family, including Ahorrememoria, are unable to detect or delete spyware from your PC. Instead of doing this, however, Ahorrememoria is happy to create inaccurate pop-ups, scanner results and system warnings.

All of PC threats that Ahorrememoria detects are false and SpywareRemove.com malware experts warn against taking any advice that Ahorrememoria offers with regards to cleaning your PC since this may cause you to damage your computer by trying to remove spyware that isn't on your hard drive at all. The top danger from Ahorrememoria, however, is simply losing money by giving in to Ahorrememoria's endless requests that you buy Ahorrememoria. If you fall for Ahorrememoria's scam, you should strongly consider canceling your credit card or taking other steps to prevent Ahorrememoria's criminal partners from taking additional advantage of your personal information in the future.

Ahorrememoria: Persistent Even in the Face of Success

Even if you do buy Ahorrememoria, unlike many other types of fake anti-malware programs, Ahorrememoria may continue to nag you with fake alerts, warnings and other attacks against your PC. Since there's no benefit from buying Ahorrememoria, and significant benefit from getting rid of Ahorrememoria as soon as you can do so, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers always recommend the latter once you notice that first Ahorrememoria pop-up on your computer.

Ahorrememoria may, in its attempt to pretend to be a 'real' anti-spyware application, offer to uninstall itself with a linked utility or be visible for removal from the Control Panel. However, using these methods to remove Ahorrememoria isn't recommended, since deleting Ahorrememoria with good anti-malware software is a much safer choice than trusting in Ahorrememoria to remove itself in a complete fashion.
