AntiSpy2011Setup.exe
AntiSpy2011Setup.exe is an installation file for various rogue security programs that are circulated through fraudulent advertising banners and pop-ups. Even otherwise legitimate websites have been reported to unwittingly host advertising that contains AntiSpy2011Setup.exe attacks, which are most often hidden inside fake system scan displays. Removing AntiSpy2011Setup.exe will depend on which type of threat the file carries, since there are indications that AntiSpy2011Setup.exe may be used by more than one rogue security program. Rogue security applications like the ones installed by AntiSpy2011Setup.exe tend to attack your PC by faking error messages, presenting inaccurate scans during startup, taking control of your browser and shutting down anti-malware and utility programs.
Don't Hitch a Virtual Ride on AntiSpy2011Setup.exe Airline
AntiSpy2011Setup.exe only appeared recently through distribution in KLM (Royal Dutch Airlines) advertisements. These advertisements were observed on legitimate, high-traffic sites like tvguide.com. If you insist on visiting such websites, you may be able to prevent infection by AntiSpy2011Setup.exe if you crank your browser security settings up sufficiently high that the relevant advertisements are blocked.
The AntiSpy2011Setup.exe infection process begins once the relevant advertisement appears, followed by a pop-up that fakes a system scan. This scan appears to be semi-realistic and will point out specific infected items and attendant risk levels, but these infections are part of a pre-programmed display and, therefore, totally false.
Further interaction with the pop-up may result in you downloading AntiSpy2011Setup.exe, or the pop-up may use browser exploits to force you to download the AntiSpy2011Setup.exe file. This is done by the use of redirects through malicious websites like n9-media.net, p5-media.net, and cdn-management.com, finally ending at myprotectionscan.com.
AntiSpy2011Setup.exe is a Danger to Your PC with Variable Parameters
Different sources have reported differing sizes of AntiSpy2011Setup.exe – sizes as large as 305kb and as small as 287kb have been indicated. This suggests that AntiSpy2011Setup.exe may be used to install more than one type of rogue security program, although the installation of the threat Windows Security is, so far, the only confirmed infection. Other rogue security programs very similar to Windows Security include Windows Security 2011, Windows Security Suite and Windows Security Rogue Antivirus.
Although the exact type of rogue security program your PC is infected by may vary, the resulting problems for your computer are mostly the same. You can expect to experience:
- Fake system alerts and infection warnings from your toolbar.

- Browser hijacks that redirect you to unusual websites or block websites with fake warnings.
- Generally altered system settings, particularly in the Windows Registry.
