Backdoor.Prowler.20

Posted: March 28, 2006

Such simple but effective malware is used by hackers for getting remote access to user's PC. The principle is quite simple: a "server" secretly installs itself on to your machine and the hacker connects through a "client" on his PC. This is the basic function of a RAT, but it also can have several other functions, which depend on the interests of the attacker. This particular virus uses such functions as "trojan" and "backdoor" to infiltrate the computer and stay unnoticed for a long period of time. Originated in July 2004. Requires 429 kb for storage. The infection peaked in the United States.
