CleanupTool

Posted: August 29, 2008

CleanupTool, also known as Cleanup Tool, is a rogue anti-spyware program and clone of SafePCTool, Clean PC Tool, ProtectingTool, SystemErrorFixer and WinPcDoctor (to mention a few). You may have been infected by a Trojan or you may have downloaded CleanupTool yourself from a malicious website. Once infected, you'll be bombarded with fake popups and system alert messages informing you about supposed spyware infections. CleanupTool will try to make you believe you're infected with spyware in order to offer its licensed program to get rid of the threats. If you dare click on any of these messages you will probably be redirected to CleanupTool's website (CleanupTool.com) to further purchase the rogue software for $30. CleanupTool may also use its fake scan results to trick you into thinking you're flooded with spyware. CleanupTool may slow down your computer's performance and may install additional spyware. All CleanupTool does is try to "clean up" your pockets.
