Darker

Posted: March 28, 2006

Darker is an Internet worm that spreads through file-sharing networks. It installs itself to the computer and places infected executables in shared folders of popular peer-to-peer softwares. The worm has an integrated trojan, which can be used by attackers to fully control an infected PC remotely. This trojan also can be used to log keystrokes, terminate all antivirus and security-related applications processes. Darker can spread by e-mail using Microsoft Outlook mail client. However, this feature is not enabled by default and has to be turned on by attackers.
