Posted: October 15, 2009

FakeASC is a computer Trojan horse that can use methods similar to rootkits to stay hidden while performing malicious activities on the infected computer. FakeASC can also open up a backdoor of the infected system allowing remote attackers access to steal personal files or compromise operations of the computer. System performance is greatly reduced by FakeASC which could lead to the computer crashing. Manual detection and removal of FakeASC is proven to be difficult to perform successfully.
