Loxbot.f

Posted: March 28, 2006

Loxbot.f is an Internet worm, which uses AOL Instant Messenger, MSN Messenger and Yahoo! Messenger to spread through messages containing malicious links that secretly download and install the spyware. The worm disables the Windows Firewall, the Security Center and several other Windows essential components. Loxbot.f also contacts a predefined IRC server and opens a back door, which provides the attacker with unauthorized remote access to the compromised PC. The intruder can download and execute arbitrary files, update the worm and perform other less dangerous actions. Loxbot.f runs on every Windows startup.
