Mipbot.b, also known as Rustock, is a backdoor that runs a hidden proxy server on the compromised PC. This proxy can be used by malicious persons to send out large amount of spam e-mail messages and perform other illegal actions. Mipbot.b can also download and install the ICQ messenger. The backdoor regularly contacts predetermined web servers in order to download arbitrary files and retrieve updated configuration settings. Mipbot.b uses a rootkit, which injects malicious code into legitimate computer components and hides the spyware. The threat automatically runs on every Windows startup.
