MycomGuard Screenshot 1MyComGuard is a Korean anti-spyware program that may act as though MyComGuard is able to uproot spyware and other PC threats, but MyComGuard's real features are more interested in crippling your PC than in assisting it. Like other types of scamware security products, MyComGuard uses fraudulent pop-ups and scanner results that lack accuracy to make you believe that you need to buy MyComGuard's full version to stop any other problems that may be occurring on your PC. However, redirects, slowdowns and crashing applications can all be caused by MyComGuard or an affiliated PC threat, and SpywareRemove.com malware analysts recommend that you delete MyComGuard ASAP. Appropriate anti-malware programs can remove MyComGuard without harm to your computer, although contact with MyComGuard-affiliated websites may result in reinfection by browser exploits.

MyComGuard – Your PC Security's Worst Enemy at Any Dot Com

Although MyComGuard promotes itself in the form of a potent and reputable anti-spyware scanner, MyComGuard bears a strong resemblance to previous brands of rogue anti-spyware programs that SpywareRemove.com malware researchers have also noted to emerge from Korea. Similar to Korean scamware like One Scan, EnPrivacy and My Vaccine (as well as other members of the Win32/OneScan family), MyComGuard markets itself on Korean-language websites and attempts to install itself by drive-by-download attacks.

These attacks can install MyComGuard without your consent unless you're able to block them with your web browser's security (by, for instance, disabling scripts) or by using anti-malware software that can wall off such intrusions before they can install their payloads. Drive-by-download attacks for MyComGuard are most likely to occur at MyComGuard's own website, mycomguard.com, although other avenues of infection, such as Trojan droppers, should also be considered open.

Guarding Your Computer from MyComGuard Attacks

Actual infection by MyComGuard is accompanied by MyComGuard's presentation of its own highly-visible and obnoxiously-pink interface, which only contains a smattering of English in-between the Korean content. Even if you can't read Korean, however, SpywareRemove.com malware researchers reassure that you're not missing anything beneficial, since MyComGuard, despite its anti-spyware pretensions, has no ability to detect or delete spyware from your PC.

Other issues that you may also experience while you're dodging MyComGuard's fake infection reports include:

  • Web browser redirects to mycomguard.com or away from PC security sites.
  • Problems with using unrelated programs – MyComGuard may even create error messages as you attempt to launch these programs to mislead you into believing that they're damaged in some way.
  • Undesirable changes to your computer's security, network or firewall settings.

Since purchasing MyComGuard has no benefits for your PC and doesn't significantly-ease the process of removing MyComGuard, SpywareRemove.com malware experts discourage throwing any money at MyComGuard's criminal partners. Instead of buying MyComGuard, you should remove MyComGuard with an anti-malware product of good repute – preferably by using Safe Mode or similar techniques to disable MyComGuard before you delete all of MyComGuard's components in a clean sweep.
