Sdbot-XK

Posted: July 14, 2009

Sdbot-XK is a network worm capable of providing backdoor access within an infected computer. Typically it spreads by exploiting the vulnerabilities in LSASS, RPC DCOM, WorkStation service, Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL servers with weak passwords. Once installed, Sdbot-XK will move itself to the Windows system folder as b.exe. The worm may then modify certain registry values in order to begin running as soon as Windows starts up. In addition to this, Sdbot-XK will attempt to disable the Windows Internet Connection Firewall, Automatic Updates and Security Center. It may also block anti-virus websites.
