X-max.net

Posted: March 17, 2008

X-Max.net (a clone of Webcry) is a malevolent browser hijacker. X-Max.net may be brought into and infect your machine by various Trojans that have the ability to exploit browser security weaknesses for their own malicious needs. Corrupt video codecs are also known to spread X-Max.net. As soon as X-Max.net is inside your system, it will hijack your browser and start redirecting Google and Yahoo search results to malicious websites that may include pornographic and gambling content, as well as aggressive and deceitful advertising. X-Max.net may also try to trick you into buying a fake anti-spyware application by displaying misleading parasite infection reports. It is strongly recommended to eliminate X-Max.net from your computer as soon as possible.
