Threat Metric
The following fields listed on the Threat Meter containing a specific value, are explained in detail below:
Threat Level: The threat level scale goes from 1 to 10 where 10 is the highest level of severity and 1 is the lowest level of severity. Each specific level is relative to the threat's consistent assessed behaviors collected from SpyHunter's risk assessment model.
Detection Count: The collective number of confirmed and suspected cases of a particular malware threat. The detection count is calculated from infected PCs retrieved from diagnostic and scan log reports generated by SpyHunter.
Volume Count: Similar to the detection count, the Volume Count is specifically based on the number of confirmed and suspected threats infecting systems on a daily basis. High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.
Trend Path: The Trend Path, utilizing an up arrow, down arrow or equal symbol, represents the level of recent movement of a particular threat. Up arrows represent an increase, down arrows represent a decline and the equal symbol represent no change to a threat's recent movement.
% Impact (Last 7 Days): This demonstrates a 7-day period change in the frequency of a malware threat infecting PCs. The percentage impact correlates directly to the current Trend Path to determine a rise or decline in the percentage.

Adware.LyricsKid is a browser add-on that displays lyrics for streaming music videos, but also modifies your browser to display new advertisements. Since Adware.LyricsKid and other adware programs display their third party content without giving you any way to control the format or functionality of these advertisements, they may cause security or performance problems. Malware experts don't rate Adware.LyricsKid as a threat, at this time, but do consider Adware.LyricsKid a PUP (or Potentially Unwanted Program) that you should remove with strong anti-adware tools at the first chance that comes your way.
The Kid that Laces Its Lyrics with Advertisements
Adware.LyricsKid is part of a particularly specialized sub-set of adware programs that provide lyrical features for popular video-streaming websites to justify the fact that they inject advertisements into your browser. Adware:Win32/Addlyrics is one of the most definitive adware programs of this particular type – so much so, that Adware.LyricsKid sometimes is misidentified as it by appropriate PC security utilities. Although its main and advertising features aren't intentionally unsafe, the advertisements displayed by Adware.LyricsKid and similar adware products do have the possibility of endangering your PC, as malware experts have outlined in the following hazards:
- Adware.LyricsKid advertisements may be used to request personal information that may be added to spam mailing lists or easy questionable means of revenue generation. These phishing attacks often are disguised and may look like contests, mini-games, free prize offers or surveys.
- Fraudulent updates for popular products, such as Web browsers, Flash or Windows Media Player, may be vehicles for threats distribution.
- Scamware products, such as fake Registry cleaners and anti-virus scanners, may be distributed through advertisement-based 'system scans' and fake security pop-ups.
Since Adware.LyricsKid isn't guaranteed to provide any kind of quality assurance or safety filtering of its advertisements, and certainly doesn't let you block or disable any of its advertising content, malware experts must recommend its removal for the overall safety of your Web-browsing experience.
Sending the Adware Kid Back Home
Like many other brands of adware that, in raw functionality, are essentially identical to it, Adware.LyricsKid is a minor security problem that has the potential to harm your browser's performance in exchange for its minor benefits. Since Adware.LyricsKid's positive features can be found elsewhere with sources that don't involve these substantial drawbacks, malware experts would suggest the deletion of Adware.LyricsKid in any normal circumstances. If you have problems with removing Adware.LyricsKid or have any reason to believe that Adware.LyricsKid may not have removed itself completely, using qualified anti-malware products to confirm Adware.LyricsKid's total deletion is the simplest recourse.
Freeware websites that use bundles as a regular means of distributing software are the most likely sources of Adware.LyricsKid installers, although Adware.LyricsKid also may be distributed through torrent networks or other means. In all cases of adware, whether it's Adware.LyricsKid or another brand of add-on, malware researchers emphasize the usefulness of practicing safe Web-browsing behavior to prevent any unwanted products from making their way to your hard drive.
