'Amazon Loyalty Program' Pop-Up Scam

Posted: February 18, 2021

Online fraudsters often exploit the popularity and reputation of famous websites and services to fool their victims. The 'Amazon Loyalty Program' pop-up scam is one of the most common tactics to follow this archetype. Users who come across the 'Amazon Loyalty Program' pop-ups may be told that they have won great prizes such as a brand new iPhone or another attractive device/gadget. The page is accompanied by some comments, which look as if they come from legitimate Facebook profiles that praise the page for giving them great rewards. However, the comments are fake, and you can rest assured that no one has received any rewards from the 'Amazon Loyalty Program' pop-up scam.

Users targeted by the fraudsters are prompted to complete a short survey, which starts by asking some simple questions such as what their gender is, and what email they use for contact. However, users who keep filling in the required information may end up being asked to subscribe to expensive services, or to send expensive text messages to verify their identity. Some bold versions of the tactic also may try to trick users into providing their payment details.

If you are ever offered a prize by the 'Amazon Loyalty Program' pop-ups, you should know that it is fake, and you may end up facing some issues if you try to redeem the reward. We advise you to ignore such tactics and to avoid the website, which spawned the suspicious pop-ups.
