AproditeSearch

AproditeSearch is a bogus piece of Mac software, belonging to the AdLoad adware family. AproditeSearch usually ends up on a user's system through the installation of freeware, torrent downloads, fake updates or deceptive pop-up advertisements.

AprodieSearch also acts as a browser hijacker, modifying the browser settings and pushing illegitimate search engines. The AproditeSearch adware/browser hijacker also has tracking capabilities that can be used to collect valuable browsing information about individual users, which can be sold to advertising agencies or even threat actors.

The AproditeSearch adware has already been spread through fake Flash Player updates, often used to distribute Trojans, ransomware and other malware. AproditeSearch is a Potentially Unwanted Application (PUA), due to the questionable methods that it has been distributed through.

Any system infected with the AproditeSearch adware will display intrusive ad campaigns, delivered in the form of coupons, surveys, banners and pop-ups. All this will often obstruct the content of the Web pages that you are trying to view and affect the performance of your browser significantly.

But all this seems like a minor annoyance, considering the other threats that adware such as AproditeSearch may expose you to. The browsing hijacker capabilities that AproditeSearch possesses may alter your browser's default settings to use fake search engines, which not only generate bogus search results but may promote untrustworthy websites that spread other unsafe software. The aforementioned pop-ups that AproditeSearch will bombard you with during browsing sessions also may be used by threat actors to distribute malware.

Any changes that the user tries to make in an attempt to fix its settings will be reset until the AproditeSearch adware is removed from the system. This is why it's always a good idea to stay protected, using legitimate anti-virus software, and remaining vigilant whenever you are browsing the Internet or installing new applications and updates to your device.
