Babylon RAT

Posted: April 25, 2019

The Babylon RAT is a threatening Remote Administration Tool (RAT) that has the ability to plant its files on a compromised computer silently, and then provide the remote attacker with the ability to execute a long list of tasks on the victim’s machine. The tool is being offered for free online, and any cybercrook can decide to take advantage of its features and cause mayhem – since any crook can use it, it is best to assume that they may take advantage of all malware propagation channels, and the only way to protect your computer is to use an up-to-date anti-malware software suite.

When the Babylon RAT is planted on a computer, it may drop its files to hidden system folders, making it unlikely that the user will be able to spot its components. The threat also may make changes to the Windows Registry so that it will gain persistence on the targeted computer and continue to work in case of a system restart.

The attacker may then make use of all of the Babylon RAT’s features:

  • Upload and download files.
  • Manage processes and services.
  • Execute shell commands.
  • Send messages.
  • Steal saved Web browser passwords and FTP credentials.
  • Log keystrokes.
  • Capture screenshots.
  • Use the webcam to record video and audio.
  • Open hidden Web browser instances.

These are just some of the Babylon RAT’s primary features so that you can rest assured that having this threat on your computer is guaranteed to be an unpleasant experience. The good news is that free corrupted tools like this one are easy-to-detect for most anti-virus software.
