AGOBOT is a family of backdoor worms. Backdoor.Agobot.ABL spreads through popular peer-to-peer file sharing programs. Once installed on your computer, Backdoor.Agobot.ABL will generally connect to an IRC server. Once it connects to IRC, Backdoor.Agobot.ABL will be able to receive commands from its author, and can be used to launch destructive denial of service (DoS) attacks from your computer. Additionally, Backdoor.Agobot.ABL incorporates backdoor capabilities, allowing an attacker direct control of your computer and any information stored on it. This places any financial or banking information stored on your computer in severe jeopardy and represents a serious security risk. AGOBOT variants are known to shut down or circumvent anti-virus and other security-related utilities.
