Backdoor.Agobot.y belongs to AGOBOT family of backdoor worms. Backdoor.Agobot.y spreads through popular peer-to-peer file sharing programs. Once installed on your computer, Backdoor.Agobot.y will generally connect to an IRC server. Once it connects to IRC, the Backdoor.Agobot.y will be able to receive commands from its author, and can be used to launch destructive denial of service (DoS) attacks from your computer. Additionally, Backdoor.Agobot.y incorporates backdoor capabilities, allowing an attacker direct control of your computer and any information stored on it. This places any financial or banking information stored on your computer in severe jeopardy and represents a serious security risk. AGOBOT variants are known to shut down or circumvent anti-virus and other security-related utilities.
