High volume counts usually represent a popular threat but may or may not have infected a large number of systems. High detection count threats could lay dormant and have a low volume count. Criteria for Volume Count is relative to a daily detection count.

Canopus is a piece of adware whose purpose is to promote affiliate links as well as paid advertisements that are part of a cleverly crafted marketing campaign whose purpose is to generate revenue for the adware's authors. All this might seem like a great strategy if it wasn't for the unfair techniques utilized by the Canopus' authors. The Canopus software isn't threatening, but it may exhibit adware-like behavior that most users may find annoying. The Canopus application may attach itself to all popular desktop Web browsers, and display numerous ads and pop-ups whenever the Web browser is launched.
Apart from displaying unwanted ads, the Canopus extension also may modify the Web browser's configuration as well as cause unexpected Web page redirects that may take users to potentially dangerous Web pages. The ads displayed by the Canopus adware may include questionable promotions, files, and Web destinations. That's why users are strongly advised to avoid clicking on any content that may be related to the Canopus adware. To remove Canopus, users should download and install a reliable anti-virus software. An updated virus scanner should be able to identify and remove all components responsible for the Canopus' annoying behavior, therefore putting an end to the annoying Canopus ads that may have taken over the user's Web browser.
