CoinUp Search
CoinUp Search is a browser extension that claims to provide you with the opportunity to win great prizes by using a 3rd-party search engine that generates a virtual currency when you use it. The CoinUp Search virtual currency can then be exchanged for various online services such as Amazon Gift cards, iTunes Gift cards, and more. However, it would take a considerable number of searches to collect enough coins for any of CoinUp Search's rewards, and even then you would not be guaranteed to get anything in return – the website that CoinUp Search promotes, Coinup.org, was set up in May 2020, and there are not positive reviews about it online. Furthermore, CoinUp Search is categorized as a Potentially Unwanted Program (PUP) that wants to bring intrusive changes to your system's configuration.
Needless to say, the prizes that CoinUp Search promises to deliver are not something that you should look forward to because you may end up not getting anything in return. If you have installed CoinUp Search, then it is likely that the add-on has set your default search aggregator to Coinup.org –while this change is not a security issue, it may diminish the quality of your Web browsing and searching sessions.
It is advisable to ensure the full removal of CoinUp Search with the help of a sophisticated computer security scanner. When CoinUp Search is gone for good, your browser's default search aggregator should be back to normal.
